About Valve Transformers and Purchasing

Last modified: 1 Apr 2011

A range of specialised transformers and low frequency chokes specifically developed for use with thermionic valve or tube type audio amplifiers and similar valve-based circuits. Intended for construction of Hi-Fi, stage and PA audio power amplifiers ranging from 5 Watts to 100 Watts, of both single-ended and push-pull designs, while smaller types can be used to supply any low power valve circuits such as pre-amplifiers, active tone controls, mixers and musical effects, or replace failed transformers in old valve equipment such as 'antique' radios.
Note that these pages are liable to change.

Important please note that all surface mounting or 'drop-through' type mains transformers include a solder tag washer for one fixing bolt, that is also without fibre washers. This tag must be connected to mains earth to satisfy EC Class 1 safety regulations.

You should be made aware that voltages higher than 240V AC mains are present on many of these transformers, including DC, and associated components whenever the mains is connected. Repairing, building and testing of valve amplifiers should not be carried out by inexperienced persons or in the vicinity of young children or animals. If in any doubt consult with a qualified electrician.
All transformers were especially developed (from supplied specifications) by Danbury Electronics of South Woodham Ferrers, Essex, UK. The range is continually being revised and expanded.
