A compact, good quality output transformer for the simple and easy building of single-ended or class A output stages having a medium to good frequency response. Negative feedback may or may not be used as desired, although frequency response is practically flat across the audio range even without it. The gapped core utilises low-loss, grain oriented laminations and is intended for output powers up to 5 Watts r.m.s., but may be overdriven for saturation effects at higher powers in guitar applications, etc. Ideal as a superior replacement of faulty unit in older equipment such as valve wireless, radiograms, recorders, record players etc., or where space is tight. The 4, 8 and 16Ω taps assist with older type speaker impedance variations and may be used to better match valve impedance. Input impedance is 5kΩ to suit typically EL84, etc. in single-ended circuits. Although not required for SE mode, a primary centre-tap is available at the tags offering 2.5 – 0 – 2.5kΩ .
